We’re expanding Island Health’s Choosing Wisely Patient-Centred Public Awareness Campaign and inviting Patient Partners to help shape the next phase. This next phase focuses on reducing unnecessary lab tests and medications, supporting better conversations between patients and providers, and connecting personal health choices to environmental impact.

Patient Partners will help create clear, practical materials that reflect real experiences and support informed decision-making. Work will be undertaken as a collaborative team in partnership with physicians to co-develop messaging that is easy to understand, sustainable, and meaningful to the public.

We will also be asking for Patient Partner support in developing a proposal for Island Health Communications to develop a patient-centred Choosing Wisely hub on the public-facing website.

Approximately 5 hours of time between September and December 2025.
• Attend one 30-minute meeting with project lead to discuss short-listed recommendations and review existing materials. Project lead will provide orientation to the current state of campaign, and we will discuss campaign goals.
• Attend two 1-hour co-development meetings with providers (physicians, nurse practitioners) as part of the time-limited working group to develop key messaging and draft materials. Dates/times to be determined by consensus poll.
• Review drafted materials and provide written feedback on messaging from your perspective.
• Help to generate areas of focus and draft messaging for consideration in developing a public facing Choosing Wisely Public Awareness Campaign hub on the Island Health website.
