Open to Provincial Region, Patient partners across BC

Child Health BC and BC Children’s Hospital have partnered to lead a provincial working group to revise the 2019 child & adolescent inpatient psychiatry standards. These standards are a provincial document which outlines standards of care for children and youth accessing inpatient mental health services.

It is integral to this project that we incorporate lived experience partners into this work, to empower children, youth and their caregivers to shape how inpatient mental health care is planned, delivered, and evaluated across the province.

What is important to children and adolescents who have accessed mental health inpatient services? What is important to their caregivers?

What we find through these discussion will be directly embedded in the document, shaping care for BC.

We are hosting 3 working group sessions virtually (2 hours each – 6 hours total). Participants will be given 1 hour of time to review the documents ahead of the meeting to get familiar with the content (3 hours total).

Participants not wishing to be a part of large virtual meetings can provide feedback in other ways that they feel most comfortable (written feedback, 1:1 meetings, art, etc.)

Honorarium will be provided following PHSA honorarium guidelines:
$30/hour

(up to 6 hours working group meetings & 3 hours asynchronous prep work; 9 hours total = $270)

Recently, a PVN Patient Advisor asked healthcare partners, “What are we learning from patients, families, and others thus far during this pandemic?”. This is an excellent question and one to ask ourselves daily.
