Family caregivers are critical and essential care partners in navigating the cancer diagnostic journey, especially when access to timely follow-up and care is delayed. We are seeking a caregiver voice to help shape this quality improvement project by contributing lived experience, supporting inclusive design, and ensuring caregiver perspectives are reflected in decision-making and communication.

Experience supporting a loved one through a Cancer diagnostic journey (especially where there were delays or navigation challenges)

-Comfort contributing to group discussions

– Interest in improving the health care system for other caregivers

-Optional – Lived experience as a caregiver for an unattached patient, or within an Indigenous or systemically marginalized community, is especially welcome

Engagement total over a 6-12 month period (monthly meetings) – Approx 2 hr per meeting

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of Involve on the IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation.

Eligibility

  • Willing & comfortable to share health care experiences in a group setting
  • Specific health care experiences [details below]
  • Have access to technology and the internet to participate in the engagement opportunity
  • Comfortable using technology to attend online/virtual meetings
  • An interest in improving health care services
  • The time to participate in the engagement opportunity
  • Experience as a caregiver supporting a loved one through a Cancer diagnostic journey in the Greater Victoria area (especially where there were delays or navigation challenges)

Patient Partners ARE NOT required to be PVN members to participate in this engagement opportunity.
