BCEHS – Ambulance Redesign

Deadline: Apply by

Commitment: One-time

Open to Provincial Region, Patient partners across BC

The BCEHS ambulance redesign project takes place every five years. It helps identify gaps in ambulance services based on patients’ experiences. Our organization believes that patient experience and feedback are essential to make sure our services remain accessible, reliable, and patient focused. While major changes are not always possible, past redesigns have made small improvements that were appreciated by both staff and patients. For example, several safety and comfort improvements – like slip‑resistant floors and more legroom inside – were added to the most recent ambulances. These improvements show that patient feedback helps us create an ambulance design that better meets patients’ needs.

We are looking for patient partners who have used ambulance services themselves or for their loved ones. Hearing directly from patients and families is important and would be very helpful in making future ambulances safer, more comfortable and more patient friendly.

It’s really hard to make changes in health care. When a PVN patient partner says, ‘This is important to us’ it keeps us grounded on why a change is needed and keeps us motivated to keep going on projects.
