The BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) is seeking insights from members of the public and registrants on boundaries and conflicts of interest in nursing and midwifery practice. Your input will contribute to BCCNM’s revision of nursing and midwifery practice standards on these topics.

BCCNM would like to invite you to share your experiences as it relates to boundaries and conflict of interest in the nurse/midwife-client relationship.

Nurses and midwives are expected to set appropriate boundaries with their clients; boundaries separate professional behaviour from unprofessional behaviour.

A conflict of interest occurs when a nurse or midwife’s interests (e.g. personal, business, political, financial, etc.), or the interests of the nurse’s family or friends, interfere with the nurse or midwife’s professional responsibilities or a client’s best interests.

Your feedback will help inform the expectations nurses and midwives must meet to ensure they provide safe care. This survey is anonymous and will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. All questions are optional.

Please email policysurvey@bccnm.ca if you have questions about this survey.
