We are hosting the BCHIMSS Conference on May 29th, 2026 and will want to secure a patient partner as soon as possible to talk about developing a presentation and providing as much preparation time as they need. In addition, we will look to post communications to our membership between now and May.

We are looking to reach a breadth across communities, but are limited on travel budget. Fraser, Vancouver Coastal, Vancouver Island are all fairly feasible within our budget.

Not required, but would be an asset if they have experienced using healthcare technologies that they have found useful or if they have had challenges with the healthcare system in which it can be improved through the use of technology.

Engagement includes 1 day in-person conference and virtual prep meetings (as little as 1 per month from time of engagement to May 29th OR as many as the patient partner needs to feel prepared to present their story in front of an audience)

Aim
* To bring awareness to the health care providers, leaders, innovators, and students in the public and private health care space of what the current experience is for a patient or proxy to navigate health care in Canada and/or BC today.
* Patient partner will discuss their inspiring/challenging health journey experience and provide feedback that will support leaders to make decisions and change to improve care and services, especially if there’s a way that technology has or can help improve this experience
* We can have virtual meetings to support the patient partner in developing material and practicing their story telling up until the conference. They will speak in front of a ~200 person audience on May 29th at JW Marriott Parq – Vancouver. BC.
* Minimum of 1hr meeting per month, but if the patient partner would like additional support to ensure they are ready for presentation, that manageable as well.
*Patient partner can stay at the conference for just the duration of the conference or for the entire conference (as they are most comfortable with)
* BCHIMSS will provide funds for travel and accommodations for this engagement
