Open to Patient Partners in Richmond

Last updated

This initiative supports engagement between physicians (specialists who are part of VCH staff) and Health Authorities (HA).  The aim of the initiative is to improve the working environment and ultimately patient care. Each Health Authority CEO has committed through a Memorandum of Understanding to support greater engagement and collaboration with doctors. Funds have been distributed to facility-based physicians through local Physician Societies (created from Medical Staff Associations) for the purpose of improving physician involvement in addressing matters affecting patient care and their work environment.  The Specialists Services Committee has the responsibility of overseeing this initiative and distributing funding.

In Richmond the Physician’s Society has had the pleasure of working with a CEAN member over the past 2 and a half years. That CEAN member has stepped down now and the society is wanting to continue the tradition of having CEAN voice at the table.

The Richmond Hospital Physician Society Working would like to recruit a CEAN member from Richmond to participate in their meetings, and bring in the patient perspective. It would be beneficial if you have been a patient or family member of a patient of Richmond Hospital within the past 3 – 5 years

PVN has really helped us engage with patient partners to improve health services at Northern Health.  It is more and more becoming the norm to include patients in the design, delivery and evaluation of health services.  PVN education and supports, involving patient partners, have enabled us to develop the capacity to include the patient voice to make care better and achieve better health outcomes.
