Webinar: From Research to Policy

  • This event has passed.

May 9, 2019 @ 7:30 am - 8:30 am

Policy. It’s a term we hear often but how well do we understand it? How are public policies made and changed, and can your research influence the process? Does it need to influence policy directly in order to effect health system changes? Learn a little bit about the policy decision making process in government and some key issues to consider when approaching decision makers about using your research findings to drive positive change.

Speaker:

Cheryl Etchegary is a health policy analyst with Quality of Care/NL SUPPORT where she’s helping determine the feasibility of using eTechnology solutions to address current health issues and improve outcomes. She completed her Master’s degree in Applied Social Psychology at Memorial University. She was involved in behavior change research at the Ottawa Health Research Institute before starting a ten-year career with Gov NL in policy positions. Working directly in policy and health research, she’s keen to share what she’s learned.

I was thrilled to discover the Patient Voices Network, where the array of places to be the voice of a patient is vast and incredibly interesting. Besides my ongoing “gig” with the BC Emergency Medicine Network, I have enjoyed being involved in several one-off initiatives. I love working with professionals who genuinely value the perspectives of their patient partners.
