Research Seminar Series – Harmonization of Group Perspectives

March 30 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Harmonization of group perspectives: A case study of clinical practice guideline implementation at a large regional health authority.

In this session Fraser Bell will present and discuss the findings of his PhD dissertation. In his research, Fraser sought to understand how individuals and teams with various functions and  decision-making purviews come together  to implement a prioritized Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG).

The study was informed by practice theory and designed to provide practical guidance as to how CPG implementation might be better supported.

Where those of us in the room may have debated policy or wording, patient voices made sure patients were top of mind. And as a result, significant improvements were made to simplify something that was otherwise complex. Patient voices at the table bring us back to reality in terms of what we are trying to achieve.
