The goal is to give individuals with lived experience navigating Interior Health Mental Health and Substance Use Outpatient Services the opportunity to share their voice regarding patient- centred careLevel of Engagement
This opportunity is at the level of involve on the spectrum of engagement (www.iap2.org). The promise to you is that the health care partner will work with you to ensure that your ideas and concerns are reflected in recommendations and provide feedback on how your input affected the decision.Eligibility
- Lived experience with navigating the mental health and substance use service system personally or as a family member
- Strong communication skills and comfort with the interview process
- Patients should have previously attended a PVN orientation session. If you have not attended an orientation but are interested please contact the Engagement Leader directly to see if accommodations may be possible
- Patients will be selected on a first-come, first-serve basis
Logistics
- 1 vacancy
- One time event
- 60-minute in person interview at either the District of Lake Country Corporate Office on Woodlake Road or the Interior Health Corporate Office on Doyle Avenue in Kelowna
- Interviews will be conducted before April 20, 2017.
Reimbursement
Mileage will be covered.Background
The purpose of the research project is to determine how collaboration among Central Okanagan Mental Health and Substance Use Services (MHSUS) community partners can contribute to patient-centred outpatient care. The study objectives are as follows:- The District of Lake Country needs accessible and integrated community mental health and substance use services. This project will inform the District of Lake County 2018 Strategic Planning for mental health services focused on patient-centred care
- The research inquiry will offer communicative space, and to inform, as appropriate, Interior Health Mental Health and Substance Use Services quality improvement initiatives, the 2016-2018 strategic plan, and current Mental Health Specialized Care Programs focused on patient-centred care.
- The project inquiry will draw further attention to the provincial government recommendations around collaboration of community mental health services and patient-centred care.
