Interior Health - Health Systems Evaluation

Aim

We will be surveying patients at the Kelowna Community Health Services Centre and need your help to try out our surveys and make sure that they are easy to follow and hopefully enjoyable to fill out! We will send you a link to a survey for you to fill out and then we will call you to talk about your experience and get your feedback on how we can improve the survey to make it easier to use.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of consult on the spectrum of engagement (www.iap2.org). The promise to you is that the health care partner will listen to and acknowledge your ideas and concerns, and provide feedback on how your input affected the decision.

Eligibility

The ideal patient partner will be comfortable with online survey tools. Note: If you have a strong interest in this work but have not yet completed a PVN orientation and volunteer agreement, are unsure if your experience is a good fit or feel another format of engagement would work better with your availability, please contact the engagement leader directly.

Logistics

  • Vacancies: 3
  • Format: Online survey completion and feedback phone call
  • Timeline: Will accommodate patient partner schedules between August 10 and August 25

Reimbursement

No costs will be incurred for this engagement.

Background

In late 2016, Interior Health moved many Kelowna staff and community services into a new building in downtown Kelowna. The new building is the Kelowna Community Health Services Centre building. As we come up on a year of being located in this new building, we will be doing a small evaluation to look at the experience of working and receiving services in this building. As part of this evaluation we will be surveying patients in the waiting rooms. The surveys have just been drafted and we are looking for patient partners to test them out and help us make them as easy to use as possible. We look forward to working with patient partners on this initiative.

I was thrilled to discover the Patient Voices Network, where the array of places to be the voice of a patient is vast and incredibly interesting. Besides my ongoing “gig” with the BC Emergency Medicine Network, I have enjoyed being involved in several one-off initiatives. I love working with professionals who genuinely value the perspectives of their patient partners.
