Interior Health’s Board Quality Committee would like to hear from a patient partner about their health care experience during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aim

The Board Quality Committee for the Interior Health will be meeting on December 8th to discuss the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and impacts on quality of care within Interior Health.

The Committee would like to hear from patients about their recent care interactions to better understand changes to the patient experience during the pandemic – both successes and areas needing additional attention.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of consult on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will listen to and acknowledge your ideas and concerns, and provide feedback on how your input affected the decision.

Eligibility

• Open to patient partners from the Interior Health region
• Patient partners who have had a health care experience during the COVID-19 pandemic (ex. COVID testing, accessing Urgent and Primary Care Centres, visits with family physicians, Emergency Rooms, etc.)
• Comfortable sharing your story/experience in a group setting
• Please note:

  • The placement process for this opportunity may include an informal interview between the volunteer and the health care partner.
  • Applicants must have previously attended a PVN orientation session and completed the Volunteer Agreement. If you have not attended an orientation session but you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Ashley Clark directly to see if accommodations may be possible.

Logistics

• Number of vacancies: 1
• Date/Time: morning of December 8th

  • Patient partner will have 30 minutes inclusive of their story and questions from the committee

• Location: Virtually (via Zoom)
• Commitment: One time

  • Preparation calls will be held with the BCPSQC Engagement Leader and an Interior Health representative.

Reimbursement

There are no anticipated costs associated with this opportunity.

Background

The Board Quality Committee assists the Interior Health Board in fulfilling its responsibility to ensure excellent quality of patient, client, and resident care throughout the health authority by:

• Ensuring that the Interior Health Authority’s Leadership Team establishes an appropriate patient, client, resident-centered, and performance-based quality culture
• Providing support, input, and governance as the Interior Health Authority’s Leadership Team establishes and monitors performance targets, standards of care and service, guidelines for policies for patients, clients, and residents, while reducing associated costs, and
• Advising the Board on the Health Authority’s progress and performance

The Board Quality Committee is made up of:

• Interior Health CEO
• Vice President of Medicine & Quality
• Executive Director and Executive Medical Director of Medicine & Quality
• Chair of Interior Health Medical Medical Advisory Committee
• Senior Executive Team (Vice Presidents)
