Volunteer Opportunity

Input is requested from patient partners to ensure the system developed meets the needs and ensures safety of patients and their family members.

Aim

The project aims include the following:
• Patient safety
• Continuity of care
• Communication between care providers at all areas and transitions points
• Involvement of patient and families throughout their care journey and in care decisions
• Having access to up to date and accurate patient information

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of collaborate on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will work together with you to formulate solutions and incorporate your advice and recommendations into the decisions to the maximum extent possible.

Eligibility

• An interest or experience in development and/or use of an electronic record
• A patient partner who is comfortable communicating and giving feedback virtually and/or by email
• Experience with discharge from acute care hospital and receiving information which is given and needed for patients and families when discharged

• Number of Vacancies: 2

Location, Date, Time and Frequency:

• Details are being developed but likely most often looking for input and review of documents by email
• There may be some virtual engagement sessions as the project progresses 
• Project implementation is scheduled for June 2021 so most involvement will be prior to that time

Reimbursement

If an in-person meeting is held, reimbursement will cover mileage, parking, food etc. as appropriate.

Background

• The ACE (Advancing Care Electronically) Project is focussed on making Royal Inland Hospital digital and virtually paperless.

• This project is focussed on care at Royal Inland Hospital – acute care but the project outcomes are expected to be transferrable and expanded in time to all other acute care sites within IH.

• The project team come from multiple geographical areas within IH and different jobs i.e. nursing, physicians, IT specialists, pharmacists, educators, administrative leaders as well as project experts from an external company based in Ontario. Most meetings occur virtually through teleconference or webex.
