Engaging people in a meaningful way can happen in a variety of ways. Fraser Health’s Patient Experience team is working together with Patient Voices Network, and is seeking two patient partners to help develop some simple-to-use tools for health care teams to expand their horizons into different techniques to engage patients.

Open to: Patient partners from Fraser Health communities

Aim

The aim of this opportunity is to increase the knowledge and capacity of health care teams to integrate different patient engagement techniques into their practice. Patient partners will be on the ground floor of innovation by providing their real-life experience into the development of the tips and tools.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of collaborate on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will work together with you to formulate solutions and incorporate your advice and recommendations into the decisions to the maximum extent possible.

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to volunteer from Fraser Health communities who:
  • Are interested in different patient engagement techniques;
  • Like to work in a team environment;
  • Thrive in an idea-generating environment; and
  • Have experience in different patient engagement techniques.

Logistics

Vacancies: 2 patient partners Date and Time: To be determined Location: Combination of in-person and ad hoc telephone/emails.  Meetings will be held at Central City, Surrey Commitment: Meetings will be 2-3 hours, every month; the patient partner will be asked to commit to a six-month term

Reimbursement

Preapproved expenses related to travel to in-person meetings will be reimbursed according to the Fraser Health Travel policy (including mileage, parking, tolls and/or public transit).

Background

Fraser Health Patient Experience and the BCPSQC Engagement Leader in the Fraser Region have been working together to identify ways to further build capacity in health care teams for meaningful engagement. During that time, there has been feedback from both health care and patient partners for a better understanding of what types of techniques there are and how to implement them for the most optimal outcomes. This short-term working group is being created to develop some simple-to-use tools that seek to inform health care and patient partners as they choose options for partnership.
