Would you like the opportunity to have dialogues with health care leaders on priority areas for patient engagement in the Kootenay Boundary area? If yes, the Kootenay Boundary Collaborative Services Committee (CSC) invites you to join their retreat style meeting!

Aim

This retreat style meeting aims to provide an opportunity for patient partners who have engaged in the system to reflect and provide feedback, share perspectives and collaborate with local leaders to identify and catalyze priority improvements to patient engagement. Patient partners will be asked to provide candid feedback within small groups focused on priority areas for patient engagement. Shortlisted topics include virtual care, the electronic patient record, patient choice of care team members, equity in health service delivery, meaningful engagement in system change, and how to engage younger people.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of collaborate on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will work together with you to formulate solutions and incorporate your advice and recommendations into the decisions to the maximum extent possible.

Eligibility

Open to patient partners from the Kootenay Boundary area who:
• Have participated in an Interior Health or Kootenay Boundary Divison of Family Practice engagement opportunity within the last 12 months
Have access to and are comfortable with an online platform, most likely Zoom
• Are comfortable expressing experiences and thoughts on patient engagement within the Kootenay Boundary area
• Are comfortable working within small and large groups

If you have a strong interest in this work but have not yet completed a PVN orientation and Volunteer Agreement, are unsure if your experience is a good fit or feel another format of engagement would work better with your availability, please contact Cassy Mitchell

• Date and Time: October 22, from 9am to 12pm
• Location: Online virtual meeting (likely Zoom)
• Commitment: One time

If you would like to participate in this opportunity, but have concerns about your internet provider and data limit, please contact Cassy Mitchell at cmitchell@bcpsqc.ca and we can identify solutions. Mileage expenses will also be reimbursed if travel is required to access a computer.

Background

This opportunity has come about as a goal of the Kootenay Boundary CSC to deepen patient engagement and explore what makes engagement meaningful for our patient partners. The CSC has representatives from the Health Authority, General Practice Services Committee (GPSC) and the Divisions of Family Practice https://divisionsbc.ca/kootenay-boundary. Patient Partners will be able to join small group conversations to the level they feel comfortable. There is the potential for a brief orientation to the retreat if requested. The discussions will include all care settings.
