Aim

As part of Northern Health’s (NH) Regional Oncology work to develop a standardized colonoscopy and colon screening pathway, a letter has been developed to keep patients and families informed of what change to expect after their screening test. Patient Partners will be asked to provide feedback/ideas on how easy it is to understand and any improvements.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of consult on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will listen to and acknowledge your ideas and concerns, and provide feedback on how your input affected the decision.

Eligibility

  • Patient partners should have undergone a colonoscopy procedure in a NH facility within the last three years.
  • Comfortable reviewing and providing feedback on the information letter online.
  • If you have a strong interest in this work but have not yet completed a PVN orientation and Volunteer Agreement, are unsure if your experience is a good fit or feel another format of engagement would work better with your availability, please contact Cathy Almost or Anthony Gagné

Logistics

  • Vacancies: 5
  • All feedback must be received by NH Regional Oncology by Friday, June 8 2018
  • Feedback will be submitted individually using your own computer. Follow-up discussions may be scheduled as required.
  • This is a one-time review, unless other arrangements are made.

Reimbursement

No expenses are anticipated at this time.

Background

NH has been developing a Standard Colonoscopy and colon screening pathway that supports the NH primary care led approach. There are two multidisciplinary working groups tasked to create processes to improve patient care.  As part of this work, NH regional oncology is  encouraging patients to participate as needed with feedback on the patient follow-up letter for  screening and surveillance.   To ensure that these resources are complete, easy to understand and meaningful to patients and their families, NH is committed to seeking feedback from those they serve.
