Background

There is a rising demand for services, with historically high patient volumes and utilization rates. As such, Island Health has created a Patient Flow Steering Committee made up of executive partners, managers, directors, medical directors, program stakeholders, and external stakeholders (as needed) to inform regional patient flow strategies.

By improving flow and access, and ensuring that the full system best meets the care needs of our patients, we will improve patient outcomes and reduce morbidity and mortality. This will have a positive impact on quality for not only patients, clients, and residents, but also on staff and physicians.
