Background

There is a rising demand for services, with historically high patient volumes and utilization rates. As such, Island health has created a Patient Flow Steering Committee. The committee membership includes regional cross- portfolio representation from: Vice Presidents, Executive Directors & Medical Directors, Quality & Patient Safety, Site Operations, and other operational programs.

By improving flow and access, and ensuring that the full system best meets the care needs of our patients, we will improve patient outcomes and reduce morbidity and mortality. This will have a positive impact on quality for not only patients, clients, and residents, but also on staff and physicians.

Island health has a commitment to including the voice of patients in planning and decision-making. The Patient Flow Advisory Committee is dedicated to fostering a collaborative environment with patients.
