Royal Inland Hospital is gathering together a team that will work closely with the chosen construction company in the design of the spaces, furniture and interior of the new patient care tower at the hospital. The team will consist of diverse stakeholders to allow for many perspectives to enhance the design work. You are invited to bring the patient perspective to this exciting project!

Aim

The aim is to design the new spaces, furniture and interior in the Patient Care Tower and inform ease of way-finding in the new space.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of collaborate on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will work together with you to formulate solutions and incorporate your advice and recommendations into the decisions to the maximum extent possible.

Eligibility

  • Reside within the service area of Royal Inland Hospital
  • An interest in new development design of interior spaces for functionality and comfort
  • Reengagement of the members who were involved in the proposal scoring in the fall of 2018 would be appropriate, but engaging new partners is also appropriate

Logistics

Vacancies: 4 Time, Date, Location: Meetings will be held at Royal Inland Hospital.  Patient partners will be asked to attend an introductory meeting during the week of March 18 and participate to their fullest extent possible in each of the first and second rounds of design meetings. This is the tentative schedule for first round of design meetings:
  • March 25 from 730-1700
  • March 26 from 700-1630
  • March 27 from 700-1600
  • March 28 from 800-1700
  • April 1 from 800-1700
The second round of design meetings to be held May 27-31 Commitment: Three months

Reimbursement

Pre-approved expenses such as mileage and parking will be reimbursed according to Interior Health policy.

Background

The Patient Care Tower project construction started in the fall of 2018. The tower will take three years to build and expected opening date is 2022. The project is on the Royal Inland Hospital campus, and includes spaces such as registration, inpatient units, operating rooms, mental health support spaces and inpatient units.
