Aim

As a patient partner you will help us consider fair and equitable access to diagnostic imaging procedures in Northern BC as mandated by the Canada Health Act. Patient partners will share perspectives and experiences when accessing diagnostic imaging services and will assist in providing recommendations to improve services in the Northern region.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of collaborate on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will work together with you to formulate solutions and incorporate your advice and recommendations into the decisions to the maximum extent possible.

Eligibility

• Comfortable telling your story
• Previous experience in accessing Northern Health Diagnostic Services (outside of the Prince George )
• If you have a strong interest in this work but have not yet completed a PVN orientation and Volunteer Agreement, are unsure if your experience is a good fit or feel another format of engagement would work better with your availability, please contact Cathy Almost

Logistics

• Vacancies: 2
• Date and Time: Monthly (1-2 hours), time and date to be determined
• Location: teleconference
• Commitment: one week to six months

Reimbursement

There are not any expenses anticipated for this meeting.

Background

Northern Health Medical Imaging provides many different types of medical images such as CT, MRI, bone densitomery, echocardigraphy, mammography, nuclear medicine, xray and ultrasound.

Areas of improvement were identified within the regional radiology network – ie. enhance communication, cooperation, patient handoff and this working group has been created to discuss
The working group will include radiologists, physicians, medical imaging technologists and patient partners.

The work being done is confidential and is most relevant to the acute care & outpatient services.
