Patient partners are needed to help advise and support operational decisions for Kamloops North Shore Primary and Community Care. This newly forming committee will consist of care providers, additional relevant Interior Health employees, patient partners and leadership members to bring a well-rounded perspective to this important work.

Aim

The goal: To grow our programs with the patient experience in the forefront. The purpose of patient partnership: The patient experience is key in providing a quality and sensitive service, this begins with understanding of the patient journey in our services. The role: The patient partner will support and assist the clinical team representatives on the committee in decisions which positively improve service.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of collaborate on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that the health care partner will work together with you to formulate solutions and incorporate your advice and recommendations into the decisions to the maximum extent possible.

Eligibility

  • Comfort in sharing experiences in receiving our services
  • Interest in being a critical but positive influence for change
  • Availability to attend meetings
  • Some familiarity with the decision making processes
  • Experience in working with committees

Logistics

  • Vacancies: 2
  • Meeting details: Quarterly in-person meetings will take place with the possibly of two or three initial meetings within first two months. Meetings will begin in February and continue for up to a one year term.

Reimbursement

Pre-approved mileage expenses will be reimbursed. Parking will be free. Meals and accommodation will not be required.

Background

The Kamloops North Shore Primary and Community Care operations are relatively new. When the programs were in development patient partners participated with orientation development. We have been in operation two years. Patient voice is very important to assist our staff and leaders to focus on quality and sensitive care. Decisions regarding programs and staff development will be based on patient experiences and feedback. There will be staff and leadership representatives on the committee as well. Respect and professional conduct will be foundational and the patient experience story will be honored. The Patient Bill of Rights and terms of reference will be developed within the advisory committee initial meeting. The care setting in primary care (dr and nurse practitioner), home health, seniors health and wellness programs.
