Island Health is looking to enhance the person- and family-centred care experience by incorporating the voice of people with lived experiences and their families in the activities of the Island Health Mental Health and Substance Use Quality Council.

The aim of this opportunity is to ensure the quality of Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) services across Island Health. The patient partner will:- Work with the team to provide ideas and inform practice for improved care processes as people access services;
- Enhance the quality of care and safety by providing insight, feedback and ideas to ensure a coordinated person and family-informed approach to care;
- Review feedback and decision-making requests within existing Person with Lived Experience and Family Advisory structures; and
- When able, and as needed, attend in person or teleconferenced MHSU Quality Council meetings and associated subcommittee opportunities.

- An interest in quality improvement
- Previous experience as a person or family member accessing mental health and/or substance use services
- Comfort sharing personal experience, ideas and perspectives
- Experience working in groups
Logistics
Number of vacancies: 4 Date and Time: The MHSU Quality Council meets the last Wednesday of each month from 900 - 1100. Location: In-person and/or teleconference Commitment: Seven months to one yearReimbursement
Local travel (mileage/parking) expenses as applicable according to Island Health rates will be reimbursed.Background
The MHSU Quality Council works in collaboration in an effort to provide excellent care by sharing perspectives and ideas to inform and improve care processes and responses to people accessing MHSU services. Membership includes program leadership, physicians, research partners, and other key stakeholders. Patient partners are currently not represented on the Quality Council. The person with lived experience and/or family member voice is valued and seen as a crucial component of how the Quality Council informs care.Health Care Partner Contact Information
