Gamification is rapidly spreading internationally as an exciting way to engage people in change. So what is gamification? It means to use designs and elements of games in non-gaming contexts such as health care. If you are interested in attending an educational workshop on how gamification can be applied to a health improvement context, please read further!

Aim

The goal of this educational workshop is to provide participants with an understanding of how motivational theory and game design can engage patients, families and those working within the health care system to improve care. By the end of the workshop, you will be able to describe an example of gamification as applied to a health improvement context, as well as develop a gamified health improvement initiative to engage and motivate positive behaviour change.

Level of Engagement

This opportunity is at the level of inform on the spectrum of engagement. The promise to you is that you will be provided with balanced and objective information to assist in understanding alternatives and solutions.

Eligibility

  • Interested in learning about gamification in a health improvement context
  • Previously attended a PVN orientation session and completed the Volunteer Agreement.

Logistics

Vacancies: 2 Date and Time: February 7, 2019 from 830 - 1600. Location:  BC Patient Safety & Quality Council office, 201- 750 W Pender Street, Vancouver

Reimbursement

Approved expenses related to travel will be reimbursed by the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council.  

Background

The Council regularly offers workshops, seminars and mini-courses on different topics related to improving patient safety and quality of care in BC. This particular workshop will be led by Shari McKeown, Director of Learning & Capability Development with the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council.
