Background

Hosted by the BC Patient Safety & Quality Council, the Quality Forum unites more than a thousand people working in British Columbia’s health care system to share and discuss how to improve health care quality. By bringing together patient partners, clinicians, policy and decision makers, senior executive team and board members, quality improvement leaders, researchers and students, we create an opportunity to learn new skills and strategies, discuss opportunities and challenges, and network with others interested in improving health care in our province.

Now in our 10th year of hosting the Quality Forum, we’re doing things a little different. Quality Forum 2021 will be entirely virtual with plenary presentations and breakout sessions delivered virtually and accessible wherever you are – we’re bringing the Forum to you!

We’re excited to leverage technology in a way we haven’t before, but you can expect the same level of dynamic, engaging and high-quality content that the Forum is known for. We’ll cover a variety of topics related to improving quality across the continuum of care, including those that have emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each year, we receive hundreds of abstracts through our Call for Abstracts from projects across the province hoping to present their work at the Quality Forum. This year, participants will be able to choose whether to deliver a live oral presentation during the scheduled program or upload an electronic poster or a pre-recorded oral presentation that will be available on-demand throughout the event.

We are looking for two patient partners to assist in scoring the abstracts that are received. Patient partners will work alongside other health system stakeholders to review abstracts using our online event platform. Each abstract will be blindly scored by two abstract reviewers and the average score, in addition to any comments made by reviewers, are used to rank and prioritize the abstracts that are invited for presentation.
