Regional Round-Up – May 1

Posted

Categories: Patient Voice Mail

Our regional round-ups update you with what’s happening at PVN and share new or interesting information from all over BC. This time, we’re sharing an exciting new provincial health care research platform as well as updates from our Lower Mainland/Fraser and Northern regions. Please submit any ideas you have from your region to your local Engagement Leader.

Provincial

Announcing REACH BC! This new online platform connects researchers to the public and patients who are interested in participating in health care research opportunities.

Lower Mainland/Fraser

The goal of the gender-inclusive regional strategy at Fraser Health is treating all members of society with dignity and respect when receiving care. Building on discussions that have taken place over the last few years, this partnership will guide and enhance safe and compassionate care across all health care services in the region. They hope to have a few patient partners join, as they continue to learn from those most impacted by how care is currently delivered. To learn more and join this initiative, please click here.

Northern

Doctors of BC conducted a medical campaign to remind Northern patients that the doctor is in. Two patient partners, Tyler and Palwinder, provided quotes and photos about having a telephone appointment with their doctor during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tyler has been with PVN for two months and Palwinder for 3.5 years; both are from Terrace.

The bottom line is because we’re caring for patients. People who know best are those who are receiving the care so it makes logical sense that we would consult with them about their experiences. By connecting with PVN we have been able to educate our teams about the value of patient partners and how important their perspective is in our services.
